In the process of manufacturing wood pellet in pellet plant, cleaning is required if the raw material source is primarily from scrap or recycled wood. Don’t neglect this step when you bought a pellet mill from auction. The purpose of cleaning is to get rid of any plastic, large lumps of any kind or any metal that might be lurking in the material. If some impurity enter the pellet mill, it may not only greatly affect the quality of wood pellet, but worse still, bring severe damage to the pelleting machine. For example, it will accelerate the wear loss of machinery parts such as die and roller or even cause breakdown of the machine. In order to avoid such situation, screening and magnetic devices is adopted in large pellet factories.

It can screen out the large lump of hard impurity that is not needed or cannot be ground.
Magnetic device
After screening, there may still remain some small and unnoticed metal. With the help of some magnetic device, this part of impurity can be diminished to a large extent.
The cleaning devices will somehow augment your production fee, but if you are using clean wood as the raw material for pellet mill production, for instance, the byproducts from sawmill or timber industry, the cleaning step is not necessary. Furthermore, for domestic or small-to medium-scale producer, clean wood is suitable for you don’t have to spend money on buying the cleaning devices.
