Pellet mill dies are an integral part of the process that changes the raw materials to the pellets which is the expected final product. There are mainly two types of dies which are known as the ring die and the other one which is the flat die. These two are part of pellet mills and have benefits for the user depending on the type of pellets that they want to have at the end of the process.

The pellet mill extrusion die can sometimes be simply referred to as a pellet press which produces wooden pellets that are used in the production of energy. They vary in size and can produce a large volume of wooden pellets depending on the amount of raw material that is put into the pellet mill. The process that the raw materials such as wood shavings among others go through within the pellet mill extrusion die involves the pressing of the raw materials in a die then it is produced via the extruder.

The pellets that are produced through a pellet mill extrusion die are usually cylindrical as well as continuous which are then cut into pieces with a knife. At times while the pellet mill extrusion die is in the process of producing the pellets, liquids such as water can be added so as to enhance the quality of the pellets. The pellets that come from this process where water has been added are usually firmer and much more effective in the production of energy.

The pellet mill extrusion die is made from high chrome, stainless steel and sometimes metal alloys so that it can withstand the pressure as well as the heat that is generated. These materials are known to withstand such conditions and thus ensure the production of pellets that of high quality. In addition, with a pellet mill extrusion die that is effective the qualified biomass pellets produced are similar in moisture content, energy value as well as the size.
